One option is to use online storage, such as Apple iCloud, or Amazon Cloud Drive, but these services charge monthly or annual fees.

A more cost-effective method is to purchase an external hard drive with more storage space and move your music library to it. First, get a USB connectable hard drive, with a lot of storage capacity, for example 1 terabyte (1TB). Once you have the drive connected to your computer, you can move your music to it using three easy steps described in this article from Lifehacker.

Facebook is always finding ways to share your personal information without letting you know. A recent Lifehacker article explains:

(Facebook) …allows sharing of your information not just for the apps or sites you visit, but also allows your friends’ Facebook apps to access your private data.

The solution is to turn off Facebook Platforms. This “nuclear option” will mean you won’t be able to log into websites with Facebook, or share info with with apps, but many of us don’t use these features anyway.

To find out how, read the article here.

Encyclopedia Britannica has announced the 2012 print addition will be the last, due to a drop in demand. They will continue to offer digital downloads, which have been increasing in demand. Meanwhile, the debate about which is the more reliable source of information, Wikipedia or Encyclopedia Britannica, continues.

Teachers and professors do not consider Wikipedia to be as valid a source for information as Encyclopedia Britannica, but is this view based on fact? Wikipedia is getting better and faster at finding and correcting errors. The debate centers around two opposing opinions. Encyclopedia Britannica believes their hand-picked, well-vetted experts are more reliable than Wikipedia’s open access model that allows the public-at-large to have equal input on fact-checking.

Some studies have been done, and the results indicate Wikipedia may have already caught up with Britannica with regard to accuracy of information. This Mashable.com article refers to one such study. From the article:

Wikipedia certainly had a hand in Britannica’s print death knell. The crowd-powered reference site is arguably the greatest knowledge experiment civilization has ever seen. And while its critics are the first to point out its unreliability, advocates would counter that a self-correcting collective is more reliable and scalable than a room full of scholars (who, on occasion, also make mistakes).

Statista has provided us with a great infographic comparing Wikipedia and Encyclopedia Britannica:
